Our Team at Wongan Dental on Ackland
Richard
Richard was born on the coast of South West Wales. A scholarship to St Edward’s Oxford was followed by reading Music at University College Cardiff under Alun Hoddinott, and as an organ scholar at Llandaff Cathedral.
A change to the Sciences followed and he studied Dentistry at the Welsh National School of Medicine where he attained his Dental Degree. He obtained his Surgery Diploma Licence from the Royal College of Surgeons England in the same year.
After employment in an Oxford/Harley Street practice he joined a cosmetic crown and bridge practice in Maidenhead Berkshire with Australian colleagues. Europe followed with a move to Holland where he worked for a Health Community Clinic in The Hague whilst learning Dutch, and subsequently with the establishment of a successful private multi-dentist practice which included an excellent Australian assistant dentist.
Transferring his practice to Dutch colleagues allowed funding for further study and he graduated with a Master of Medical Law from the University of Wales, a Diploma in Accounting and Management from the Association of Certified Accountants and an advanced post graduate MGDS Clinical Diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons.
This led to employment within the UK Dental Practice Board as a regional dental officer which included the monitoring of dentists and practices for regulatory compliance and quality.
A millennium moment led him to Fremantle Australia working for the Metropolitan Dental Health Service with subsequent posts throughout Western Australia, including Aboriginal communities.
Later he was offered the post of a Lead Clinician in Wales and returned for some years to lead this team
A return to Australia led to the purchase and refurbishment of a 50 year old dental practice in the Wheatbelt at Wongan Hills where he enjoys being part of a friendly rural community.
Wongan Dental on Ackland is now equipped and staffed to world class standards.
Richard is partnered by Nurse Lara here in Wongan and he has three grown up sons, Baudewijn and Miles in Wales and Christian, also a dentist, in Dunedin NZ.
Lara
Lara hails from The Garden of England in Kent and on leaving school she studied Health & Social Science which led to a life in the Caring Professions, principally in the hospital care of the Elderly and Palliative End of Life Care for last stage terminal illness. She has provided Domiciliary Care for the Elderly and Infirm and has also acted as a Pharmacy Assistant in Wales
With life circumstances changing she entered dentistry as a nurse and became a registered nurse with the General Dental Council UK in 2006.
As nurse to Dr Richard Morgan, Lead Clinician they formed a partnership which proved productive and remained so with a move to Australia and her present practice here in Wongan Hills with Dr Morgan.
She now enjoys living in this rural community and her gentle and caring nature is valued.
